Overview
Join us for this Sunday evening to immerse ourselves in the vibrant community of the South Bronx and introduce you to The Bronx Documentary Center which sponsors several programs including a special photography program with Bronx youth that has produced award-winning artists.

Be sure to visit the free exhibits at the Bronx Documentary Center (BDC) and enjoy a lively community block party with live music, food, and fun for all ages! This event is held in conjunction with the BDC’s 8th Annual Latin American Foto Festival. Note the BDC has been challenged by cuts in NEA grants so please consider making a small contribution (optional).

Here's the schedule:
4:00pm: Meetup outside the Bronx Documentary Center, corner of East 151st Street & Courtlandt Avenue. Note the area will be busy as the area street fair has activities for all ages. The block party runs from 12 noon - 6pm.

4:00pm - 5:00pm: Check out the photo exhibits and live bands at 4pm (and earlier at 3pm if you like). Below is a link to the schedule. The 4pm music is Afro-Venezuelan.

5:00pm: Meet in front of the BDC - same at the 4pm location.
5:00pm - 7:00pm: Approximately 2 hour walking tour taking us through The Hub commercial district, St. Mary's Park, the Mott Haven Historic District (pictured above) and ending at the Piano Factory District (once busy piano-manufacturing area with new businesses and housing), and the new "micro-neighborhood" in the East 130s. Stops include the former Bronx Opera House and the last resting place of the father of the U.S. Constitution, Gouveneur Morris at St. Ann's Episcopal Church. This tour will cover South Bronx history from the 1600s to the present!

Optional afterparty at one of several nice local restaurants:
Tour ends near 138th Street & 3rd Avenue where you will find the #6 subway to Manhattan and several bus routes.
