TOUR OVERVIEW
The Audubon Park area, a distinctive residential enclave and historic district, was once the home of painter and naturalist John James Audubon and now is occupied by Manhattan's only active cemetery (Trinity Church Cemetery). We'll take in some of the street art that is part of the Audubon Mural project which seeks to represent over 300 species of birds whose existence is threatened by climate change,

Further uptown we'll also visit the grounds of the delightful Morris Jumel Mansion - Manhattan's oldest house built in 1765 which once served as General George Washington's headquarters during the Fall of 1776 and where in 1790 as President he had his first dinner with members of his cabinet: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Alexander Hamilton. You will scarcely believe that you are in Manhattan while strolling these quiet streets that surround the mansion. Rounding out the tour will be a stop at the Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz Memorial, and for baseball fans we will traverse the site where the Yankees began as the New York Highlanders.

## Featured Hispanic Society Museum Exhibit: Tierra Insurgente

"The work of Los Angeles-based Chicana artist Sandy Rodriguez challenges the assumption that visualizing space is a neutral act. Created on handmade amate bark paper with natural pigment and grounded in Indigenous Mesoamerican traditions of mapping, healing, and storytelling, her work insists that every image of land carries ethical weight. Across her practice, the earth emerges as a living archive—shaped by violence and care, erasure and survival. References to pandemic-era grief, Black Lives Matter demonstrations, migrant detention centers, and California wildfires appear alongside ancestral symbols, medicinal plants, and scenes of hip-hop dance."
