Earth Month Riverside State Park Hike

Details

**For Information only** Sign up at **https://act.sierraclub.org/events/details?formcampaignid=701Po00000moBY0IAM&addattendee=true** We will meet at the Suspension Bridge at the Bowl & Pitcher in Riverside State Park and hike approximately 2.5 miles. There are a couple of rocky spots but the majority of the hike is flat and easy to walk. During the hike we will pass an overlook of the Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility, where we will stop and Dr. Erin Dorothea Dascher, an Urban Planning and Geography professor at EWU will discuss the history of water treatment in Spokane, WA and the role water treatment plays in our watershed. We will touch on topics related to toxics particularly PCBs and PFAS and how we are working to make our river water safe; combined sewer overflows (CFOs) and the city’s work to install overflow treatment tanks; and the work of local nonprofits to help protect our river.
