About us
This group is for critical thinkers interested in exploring transcendence without the "woo woo", or ill-defined or undefinable notions such as "spirituality". We discuss the phenomenon and the ways it can be expressed, both by personal descriptions of transcendent experiences and by neuroscience-based tools and techniques such as fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) that identify areas of the brain that are activated during transcendent experiences. For example, do the same areas of the brain activated regardless of the type of transcendent episode, and if not, what is the nature (location and type) of the differences? What similarities or.differences are manifested when multiple study subjects experience the same type of transcendent episode?
Before we can begin to answer these questions, we will, of course, need to do our homework into the types of transcendent episodes by mining published studies, identifying, reviewing and harvesting rinfomal, credible and relevant online content, and developing relationships with subject matter experts willing to offer their guidance and constructive criticism.
This meetup is new, and the content above is, for now, preliminary, so, please, feel free to send me your feedback. Our Meetup gatherings will take place, in person, at a location to be announced. I simply believe that there is a chemistry that is lost in online gatherings. Please post a message describing your interest and sharing a little bit about yourself.
Thanks for your participation.
