Exploring, designing and creating ways for Exponential Technologies to Empower Democracy

Let's learn what is Democracy in the Future and what exponential technologies can do to empower it. We will hear directly from people who have been key in developing new tools for empowering Democracy, and leaders in advancing Democracy from the United States, Ukraine, Argentine, Japan, Mexico and Canada.

## Introduction

Democracy is a form of government in which the people have the authority to nominate, select and decide leaders and legislation. In recent years, even the longest standing democracies have been put into test, mainly because of the scaling effect of influencing massive, quick and effectively into different ideologies for self-proposing. Recently, global leaders question the disinformation threat to democracy or even the future of democracy in the future [1][2].

試練に立たされている民主主義[1]。グローバリズムの中、大規模かつ迅速な意思決定が求められる一方で、ポピュリズムやフェイクニュース、そしてメディアコントロールに対して脆弱な民主主義の意思決定プロセスはその期待に十分に応えられてるとは言えません。世界が目指すべき価値観としての地位が揺らぎ、世界における新たな民主化の拡大のみならず、長らく民主主義を続けてきた国家[2] においてさえも、否定的な側面が問いただされている状況にあります[3][4]。

## Objective

In order for Democracy to thrive we need to find new ways of which Democracy can be empowered. As one of the possible means to do so, advanced technologies and digital transformation might bring some potential answers to how we could empower democracy.

The main objective of “The Future of Democracy Conference” is a forum where we can explore, dialogue and inform ourselves of ways and technologies could be designed and developed for Democracy to be invigorated and strengthened while also reducing the risks and negative features that current information technologies have brought to Democracy.

For this 2022, a secondary objective for this Conference is to introduce some of the technologies that were created and/or are being built by the organizers.

隘路に迷い込んだ様に見える民主主義に対して、テクノロジーが救いの手を差し伸べることは可能なのでしょうか。AIやブロックチェーンのようなテクノロジーは、大規模な予算を必要とする研究機関においてではなく、無数の民衆の手に届けられることでエクスポネンシャルな（指数関数的な）発展に至っています。民衆の手によって発展するこれらのテクノロジーは、民衆のための政治形態である民主主義を変えられるのでしょうか。「The Future of Democracy Conference」の主たる目的は、現在の情報技術が民主主義にもたらしたリスクやマイナス面を軽減しつつ、民主主義を活性化・強化するために設計・開発しうる方法と技術を探求し、対話し、情報提供する場を作ることにあります。この目的の下で2022年における本会議では、民主主義を救うために取り組まれている開発プロジェクトを紹介します。これらはまだ、起動しつつあるプロジェクトにすぎません。その萌芽と可能性をあなた自身の目で確認し、発表者達と共にこの活動に貢献する道を探りましょう。
