What we’re about

Are you someone who used to identify as evangelical Christian but no longer do? Whether you've transitioned to a different faith tradition, become agnostic/atheist, or are just starting to deconstruct your beliefs — you're not alone.

Exvangelicals Anonymous is a community space for folks who are navigating life after evangelicalism. One of the hardest parts of leaving that world is the loss of community — the potlucks, the small groups, the sense of belonging. This group exists to recreate that sense of connection in a way that’s safe and supportive.

We're open to all who:

  • Have left evangelical Christianity (in part or in full)
  • Are currently questioning or deconstructing
  • Are seeking a space to process their experiences with others who get it

You don’t need to have it all figured out — come as you are.

Location & Format
Based in the Greater Los Angeles area, we aim to host in-person gatherings for those nearby — things like casual hangouts, group discussions, or book club-style meetups. For folks outside the area, we’re also planning to offer virtual options so you can still connect and participate, no matter where you are.

What to Expect
As we grow, we’ll shape the group together based on interest and needs. Some ideas include:

  • Community hangouts (coffee shops, parks, etc.)
  • Themed discussion nights (spiritual trauma, purity culture, religious family dynamics, etc.)
  • Book club (optional reading + discussion)
  • Maybe even the occasional guest speaker or online panel

This is a judgment-free space where we support each other through whatever phase of the journey we’re in — whether that’s laughter, grief, anger, healing, or all of the above.

Let’s build a new kind of community — together.
