Based on the novel by Emile Zola and directed by the famed Jean Renoir the film stars Jean Gabin as Jacques who is having an affair with Severine the wife of the station master Roubaud.

Roubaud overlooks the matter as he rightly believes that Jacques knows that Roubaud killed his wife's former lover.

Feelings of guilt and remorse amidst the hidden passion run high....
