In this meetup we will be building Tic-Tac-Toe. In this implementation there should be 2 modes, player vs player, and player vs computer.

Things to consider:

  • The program should know who one and keep track of points
  • The program should be able to be rest and played multiple times
  • When playing against the computer almost/every game should end in a draw

Part of our focus is to build out logic which will make the smartest move from the available spaces. Tic-Tac-Toe is a simple enough game that it can be built for either the web or the command line

This challenge is great for all skill levels and be completed as simplistically or complexly as you feel comfortable with. This game in particular has some interesting logic that will need to be thought through. We will have mentors for Ruby, Python, Node, and JS. All languages are welcome, what we don't know we can learn together.

We are asking for voluntary meetup dues to help cover costs. The suggested donation is $3 per meetup or $25 for the rest of the year.

This is voluntary, and is not intended to stop anyone from coming to the meetup. If you would like to help us out use the "Chip in" button on the left sidebar. All meetup dues go directly to paying for the meetup.com subscription, food, and space costs.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Sam or Alison.
