We're very pleased to announce a new "Composition In The Field" workshop being held in conjunction with the Digital Photo Academy!

Join Ken Ross September 10th, 10:30am-1:30pm, for a hands-on composition workshop while exploring the historic Fairlie Poplar district near Centennial Olympic Park. Fairlie Poplar - named for the two streets that cross at its center - is part of the central business district of downtown Atlanta. It spans 28 city blocks and contains a number of historically significant buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this class you will expand upon your architectural photography skills and learn more about street portrait photography.

While photographing with Ken you will learn new compositional skills that can be applied during the class and throughout your photographic career. Experiment with different angles and play with light and shadow bouncing off of the sculptures. Create different moods with your photographs, from romantic to somber, as you work in various settings and colors.

This is a 3hr class with a maximum of 10 students. Priced at $99 from DPA, F/2 Photo School students can sign up for just $49!!

Since this is being done in partnership with Digital Photo Academy you will need to register through their site. Once you've done that, please do RSVP here just to help us keep track of everyone who's going. Be sure to tell DPA that you are an F/2 Photo School student so you get the discount rate!.

You can get more details on the class here (http://www.digitalphotoacademy.com/DpaObjects/viewObject/49032) and follow this link for registration (http://digitalphotoacademy.com/event-registration/?ee=4290).

I photograph in this part of the city several times each year and there's always something different going on to spark my imagination and inspire new images. Just the variety of architectural styles is enough to draw most photographers but I'm also pulled in by the activity on the street, the small details, and surprise encounters. Some of my most memorable images have been ot those I've met while walking through this colorful and fascinating part of Atlanta.

I hope you'll be able to join me so that I can not only share photographic tips and techniques but also this little known historic treasure.

Ken
