phoneGap is an Open Source framework that allows you to convert HTML5 Web pages into native apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, WebOS and Windows and bada. You also get access to additional device resources via JavaScript with phoneGap.

Two engineers from Nitobi will do a deep dive on phoneGap, showing off it's core features, talk about the plug-ins being built and the phoneGap Cloud build service.

Building for bada with phoneGap

bada is a smartphone platform that allows developers to create feature-rich applications that elevate the user experience in mobile spaces. Long story short, Samsung is aiming to bring the smartphone experience to the mass market with a robust, feature-rich, yet affordable mobile platform.

Jesse MacFadyen, Senior Developer at Nitobi

Jesse MacFadyen is a senior software engineer at Nitobi, specializing in presentation layer programming for Rich Internet applications. Jesse has developed large scale applications in Silverlight, Flash, Flex, Air, .net, and JavaScript.

As an active and contributing member of the PhoneGap open-source project, Jesse is passionate about bringing device level functionality across multiple mobile devices through simple web-tech APIs.

Sidney Maestre - Developer Evangelist at PayPal

Sidney Maestre is a Developer Evangelist with PayPal and the organizer of BAM! Bay Area Mobile a meetup focused on jQuery Mobile, AIR, and other multi-platform mobile technologies. He lead the Bring Your Own Laptop session "Building mobile applications with jQuery" at Adobe MAX 2010, presented "Intro to jQTouch" at the Sencha Conference 2010 and will present again at Adobe MAX 2011 on Building apps with jQuery Mobile.

Hod Greeley, Engineering Manager, Android at Samsung

Hod Greeley has been programming professionally for over 17 years. He has worked in a variety of software fields, including computational physics and chemistry, computer and network security, investment management, and mobile devices. He is currently an engineer and team lead at Samsung’s San Jose Mobile Communications Lab, Mobile R&D Group, where he focuses on the Android platform. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Columbia University.
