Accessible Bath
Details
A number of local groups and people have spoken to us about whether we can help map accessible spaces around the city. Better insight into the accessibility of local places will help people move around the city and may be useful in highlighting areas that need further work.
We want to explore doing this as a crowd-sourced exercise. There are a number of tools available to help map and share accessible routes around the city.
One example is Wheelmap (https://wheelmap.org/map) which allows anyone to contribute to a map of accessible spaces.
In this meetup we're going to hear from community stroke co-ordinator, Philippa Gordon and volunteers from her group about the issues that people face in getting around Bath. And then we're going to plan a project to help collect better information.
The meeting will involve:
• Getting some insight into local issues and the problems that people are facing
• Take a look at Wheelmap.org and its supporting app for collecting accessibility information
• Discuss how we can co-ordinate as a community to begin collecting information
• Share ideas about other tools or approaches
The meetup will have some short introductory talks and demos but will be an open discussion. The goal will be to work out how we can use existing tools to help collect and share better information about the city.
Please come along to listen, share and contribute
