This year we’re looking at how each of the types is organised internally; how their underlying belief creates a motivation, which brings about a habit of emotion and of mind, which leads to a focus of attention, idealisation and avoidance. This is all held in place by the Defence Mechanism. We’ll explore the gifts and the challenges for people with this type pattern and for the people in their lives. The impetus for this topic of how the type forms and keeps being repeated has come from newly published work by Dr Dan Siegel and the PDP (Patterns of Developmental Pathways) Group, so we'll be covering their hypothesis and checking it out with real people.
Type 2 children came to believe that to get one's needs met, one has to give and help. They are finely tuned to pleasing the important people in their lives; helping them and giving them what the Two intuits they need. In this way they hope to get their own needs met. Their emotional habit is Pride - they are proud of their ability to look after others, please them, provide what they need and be indispensable. This is a gift, but it’s also exhausting looking for the approval of others and being unable to express one's own needs directly.

We will hear from a panel of people who recognise they have this type pattern, finding out how they came to believe that this was how they had to be; the gifts that it brings and how they are working on their path towards Freedom.

If you have Type 2 patterns, we'd love to hear from you about what it's really like! Please let Rosemary know. And Thank You!
