Cancer / Life-changing illness Support Group

Details
This program features a combination of hypnotism and group support and can be a useful adjunct in the treatment of a patient with a life-changing illness.
Ø It is suitable for all persons living with cancer or other life-changing illness.
Ø Primary goal of the method is supportive care with a special orientation toward making the time of medical treatment also a time of self-improvement.
This support program is modeled after the first hospital-based, medically approved, I Can Act Now (ICAN) program at La Grange Memorial Hospital in IL for the hypnotic treatment of cancer.
Ø The group uses supportive and exploratory verbal techniques, guided imagery, hypnotism and various mental exercises and experiences.
Ø By teaching patients how to use the power of the mind to control discomfort, elevate mood and directly participate in the healing process, this program improves the overall quality of a patient’s life, and can promote positive improvement in a patient’s medical condition as well.
Ø Based upon the work of Dr. Bernie Seigel’s Exceptional Cancer Patients (ECaP) model of interpersonal care.
