XC Ski at Fahnestock Winter Park

The Fahnestock Winter Park is located in Fahnestock State Park, about 8 miles east of Cold Spring. The park straddles the border between Dutchess & Putnam counties. The park offers 15 km of machine groomed, tracked and mapped trails for beginning and experienced skiers. I'm a novice, so I'll stay mainly on the easy trails, with perhaps a try at a moderate one. There is a warming room with tables and a snack bar, where hot chocolate, chili, sandwiches, cookies, brownies, etc are available. Equipment rentals are available, but there are no lessons. This is your chance to try out skiing without buying equipment. For more information, including a trail map, go to
