The Future Of Hyperscale Systems: Immutable DevOps & Mesos Data Centre OS

Details
We are absolutely delighted to kick off this meetup with two of the best engineering leaders in Dublin.
We have Roland Tritsch, formerly VP Engineering / VP Infrastructure Engineering at Gilt. Roland is a DevOps visionary and a passionate functional programming advocate. In this talk Roland is going to introduce the concepts of immutable deployments and is going to discuss how to apply them to Spark. We will also discuss alternatives to Spark and will talk about how compatible (or incompatible) these alternatives are for immutable deployments. Roland has +20 years experience building and running large, distributed software systems. Right now he runs the Application Services organisation for Fujitsu in Ireland and is a big fan of applying functional programming concepts to all aspects of software engineering (devops, mobile software development, testing, big data analytics, ...).
Grigorios Chomatas, tech Lead at Hubspot who will talk to us about how Hubspot run Mesos in production using Singularity, a platform that enables deploying and running services and scheduled jobs in the cloud or data centers. Combined with Apache Mesos, it provides efficient management of the underlying processes life cycle and effective use of cluster resources. Grigorius has a deep knowledge of open source technologies spanning more than 20 years. He is particularly interested in architectures and software for Big Data storage / transformation / analysis / visualization and intrigued to find ways to understand patterns and extract the knowledge from these datasets.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you all (or as many as we can squeeze in!) at Nitro EMEA HQ.
Cheers,
Brendan.
