And now for something completely different!

FMVeg was encouraged to have a suite at CoreCon (http://www.fargocorecon.org/), the local Sci-fi convention, to give out free vegan food to the attendees, show videos, etc. As a result, we came up with the idea of having a Star Trek themed suite, and we're calling it "Trek Cafe and Lounge", a room filled with food from the future; replicated food! (Most of the food in the Star Trek universe is replicated, and most everyone is vegetarian or vegan because of that, in case you didn't know - except Klingons, of course!) We'll be serving meat analogues, which have been created to replicate the taste and texture of actual meat - only they're plant-based!

We're also showing Star Trek videos and will have Star Trek trivia, so we're inviting all of you Sci-fi veg geeks to help! Benefits include: hanging out with us, watching lots of Star Trek shows/movies, Star Trek trivia, and some free vegan food, of course! There is a cost to attend the convention - you can check out all of the details here: http://www.fargocorecon.org/

Here are the hours of operation:

Friday 4pm to 12am

Saturday 10am to 12am

Sunday 10am to 12pm

So far, we have Amy volunteering to help from 5pm Saturday until ? (close?) and Scott W. said he could be there all hours Friday and Saturday evening until close. Karl, Miguel and I will be there most of the time, but we need most of the help during Saturday during the day.

We're receiving funding from VegFund.org (http://vegfund.org) to help cover most of the costs of the room and food, but we're seeking extra funding for props, costumes and such through GoGetFunding. (http://gogetfunding.com/project/trek-cafe-and-lounge-at-corecon) (If you want to be a part of this project in this way it would be greatly appreciated!)

We got this life-size Spock peel & stick applique for one of the walls of our suite! He'll go along great with Haven's Captain Kirk!
