THE CHALLENGE

Cars are now a part of the Internet of Things like any other connected device. Instead of thinking of them as purely mechanical objects that just get us from A to B, Jaguar Land Rover believe they should think about how they can be a part of our connected lives and the wider ecosystem of technology.

YOUR SOLUTION

How can we use this Connected Future to have a positive impact on people's lives inside and outside the car?

Judging criteria - All projects will be judged against a combination of value creation, innovation, technical implementation, user experience, market potential, integration opportunity and presentation quality.

APPLICATIONS

We are looking for a cross functional selection of participants: whether you're a developer, designer, UX, creative, business person or you just want to get involved in shaping the future of the automotive industry.

1st - £2000 for the team + Jaguar Land Rover merchandise for each team member

DEVELOPER RESOURCES

A bespoke Vehicle data API

To help you to create proof-of-concept applications, we will provide a selection of real vehicle sensor data over a web API. The API enables access to over 80 vehicle network signals - everything from GPS position to heated seat settings - in a JSON format.

Driving data is available in a variety of situations and vehicles, including regular on-road driving, off-roading and laps of the Dubai Autodrome.

The data is accessible via two fully-documented methods: a HTTP 'pull' method, where data is retrieved in time chunks, or a WebSocket-based streaming service.
