It's time for Game Development Brisbane's annual Lightning Talks, a series of short, rapid-fire presentations on anything game dev. Tell us about your favourite trick, engine, tool, API, dev process, and so on.

Each year, we run an event which gives our community an opportunity to give a short talk about a small snippet of information. Absolutely anyone can apply, and talks can cover anything in the wide range of game development. It's the perfect chance for those in the community who are less confident in their abilities to gain experience and share something they think others could use.

On the day there will be 3 talks, each limited to 15 minutes, which includes the time for Q&A. It isn't necessary to have a standard powerpoint presentation, feel free to get creative or even just stand up and talk to everyone!

The Teaches of Me: Animation Lessons from Two Decades of Game Development - Martin Binfield

Join Martin as he looks back over his career in games, working on such titles as Heavenly Sword, LittleBigPlanet, Medievil and Runescape, and sums each title up with three tips - a game development lesson, an animation lesson, and a life lesson.

Martin Binfield has worked in games for 19.5 years, mostly as an animator but occasionally as environment artist, graphics artist, cutscene director, video editor, even mocap actor. He has recently moved into freelance animation and solo game development. He likes cats, and dislikes writing in the third person.
