Reactivity, Games and Interactive Applications in Haskell

Speaker: Ivan Perez (http://www.haskellers.com/user/ivan-perez).
People have long been searching for the holy grail of programming interactive applications in Haskell. While there are frameworks that target very specific domains, no solution solves the general problem and most of them do not scale very well.
Ivan will explore some of these solutions, including FRP-based, reactive non-FRP frameworks and low-level APIs. We will see what the status is, what might (ideally) be possible with them and what we can already do, including full games implemented with them that use real gaming devices such as wiimotes and kinects for interaction.
We will also see how we are not far from having a fully competitive language for professional game development, and how we can produce amazingly simple Haskell code that, at least in some respects, surpasses what the traditional gaming industry is doing nowadays.
