LI Musicians Network (LIMU) offers a warm invitation
to all members -- and the general public -- to its
April Acoustic Festival and mixer at Medley’s
Restaurant & Lounge in Islip on Saturday, April 26, 1
p.m. - 5 p.m. )

LIMU has been drawing a torrent of talent at these
Festivals. April embraces that trend.

The April show will feature four hours of live
acoustic music from our current members, as well as
music from newer members who'd like to get
better acquainted with LIMU.

Currently, a number of acts are already signed on to
perform.

The event will also be an excellent opportunity for
members to meet in person -- get to know that
drummer you've been swapping emails with, meet
with the singer who's interested in joining your
band, or simply network with any number of other
musicians on LIMU who've peaked your interest.

Cover is $5-at-the-door, which comes with one free
drink* and free appetizers -- wings and jalapeno
poppers.

PLAYERS WELCOME

While the roster of live acoustic entertainment is
nearly full, there are still a few spots left for
acoustic music soloists and combos who'd like to
take the stage at the Festival and play a 15-minute
set.

Essentially, it's a perfect opportunity to finely polish
three or so of your favorite tunes, get up under the
spotlight, and show your friends, your family and
your neighbor's Aunt Wilma (you're bringing them all
along, of course), that you've got it.

Every soloist or combo will also be introduced on
stage with their bio and credits, as well info on a Web
site, Facebook page or similar digital haunt that the
crowd can visit for more details on where they can see
you next, how they can book you quick, or where they
can download your music.

The festival is being heavily promoted to the general
public in addition to LIMU members, so performers
will be sticking to cover tunes from major labels. (If
you'd like to sandwich an original tune between the
covers, that'll work, too.)

To get on the roster, simply send an email with an
.MP3 -- or a link to an .MP3 -- recording of you or
your combo playing the kind of acoustic song you'd
you'd like to play at the festival, to:

com. As long as your .MP3 doesn't cause small animals
to scatter in horror, you're in.

(Basic sound recording quality on your .MP3 is fine. If
it's something you'd send to a friend with a note like,
"Hey, check this out," that'll do.)

(Players also pay a $5-cover-at-the-door, which comes
with one free drink* and free appetizers -- wings and
jalapeno poppers.)

SOME ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS WILL WORK

As long as your electronic instrument is programmed
to play in acoustic mode, that’ll fit in just fine with
the spirit of the festival. If you program your electronic
keys to sound like a traditional piano (and bring your
own amplification), for example, that’ll work. Ditto for a
drummer who brings an electronic drum kit with
amplification – most welcomed.

The plan is to record the festival in its entirety,
and post audio/video of a number of individual songs on
YouTube after the event for everyone to enjoy. (If
you’d rather not be recorded at the festival, no problem.
Mention that preference when you email in your .MP3.)
