Topics
Implementing Regions/Federation for Your Cloud: Why Would You Do Either/Both and How? - Andy McCrae, OpenStack Engineer at Rackspace
Abstract: As OpenStack becomes easier to deploy, deploying one large cloud across regions or multiple smaller federated clouds is the next frontier. This architecture is top of mind among developers and quickly becoming a reality.
Recently, we implemented and automated a multi-region/federated solution for openstack-ansible, and will share our knowledge about what it takes to run and deploy a multi-location cloud. We'll cover the benefits of a multi-region/federated cloud, what those terms mean within OpenStack, the potential challenges and how to overcome them. We’ll also cover, in more detail, Authentication and Federation, and Global Clustering for Object Storage.
Multiattach, Image Caching, and Other New Block Storage Features-Peter Pentchev, Software Architect at StorPool
Abstract: Cinder, the OpenStack block storage service, is constantly being developed, gaining new features and refining existing functionality. The same holds true for the most recent OpenStack Liberty release. We’ll take a look at some of the most notable improvements and enhancements in Cinder that make it even better suited for many different architectural and deployment scenarios.
IBM Bluemix: PaaS meets IaaS--Goran Kruljac, Technical Manager, IBM CEE
Abstract: This presentation will show how IBM Bluemix, a digital innovation platform, can bring new ideas and services to life quickly and easily, while enabling new levels of productivity, extended capabilities and innovation. However, these benefits are the result of a combination of technology, different methodologies and practices that span different parts of organizations beyond IT. We’ll share some customer successes and ways they’re already using Bluemix and PaaS to deliver exciting, innovative services.
Highly Available OpenStack Cloud–Teodor Aleksandrov, Account Support Manager at Hewlett-Packard Bulgaria
Abstract: Highly Available Cloud Services ensure at least a minimum of cloud resources are always available on request, resulting in uninterrupted operations for users. Cloud users should be able to provision and manage the compute, storage and network infrastructure resources at any given point in time, and the Horizon Dashboard and the OpenStack APIs must be reachable and able to fulfill user requests.
There are many possible ways to build a highly available OpenStack cloud, but in this presentation, we’ll take a look at the main challenges and provide an example of how HP overcomes those challenges.
