Bike NYC to Brewster, NY (50 miles)--North County Trail

Details
The plan is to ride north starting at Van Cortland Park (in the Bronx) and ending in Brewster, NY along the North County Trail. We will take the Metro North back to the city. (you will need a special bike permit to take your bike on the Metro North. It is $5 and last a lifetime).
This ride will be close to 50 miles, but not very hilly and mostly on a dedicated beautiful, tree-lined trail (although there will be some street riding).

This is a bike ride in the country. Do not expect any bodegas, delis, hipster coffee shops with over priced salads, or restrooms along the route. I think there are few shops but I would not count on them.
There are a few bail out points if you do not want to go all the way to Brewster, which is totally fine, just please plan your exit yourself and let me know at some point if you are going to take an alternate route.
We will ride at a reasonable pace...not too fast, not too slow. I would also like to try to stay as a group if possible, although ultimately you will be responsible for you.
To put this ride in some perspective, Central Park to Far Rockaway and back is about 60 miles. The Greenway that circles Manhattan is about 30 miles.
:::::WHAT TO BRING:::::
You must come prepared for a full day of riding. I would recommend bringing 2-3 liters of water and a full lunch with some snacks. We will most likely pull over on the trail to eat or snack when we get hungry, meaning there is no guarantee you will be able to purchase food.
You must bring a spare inner tube (or two) for your tire. Do not bring a patch kit. They take too long and are not totally reliable. Be sure the inner tube fits your bike before the event. (I patch my tubes at home and circulate them on the next ride. This I am sure to get the hole.)
If you have a pump and tools to change a flat please bring them. I have some but it is better to have more than one set on the ride.
It is highly recommended that you wear a helmet. Also wear any clothing that you will be comfortable riding/exercising in.
I am going to rate this ride as intermediate to advance because of the distance* We are starting early so we can take our time and enjoy the day.
Please post any questions, suggestions or comments and I will do my best to address them.
(Bad weather will cancel this ride)
