What we’re about
Fabric is a relatively new service from Microsoft that is creating a real buzz in the analytics and business intelligence community. Business users can get data from almost any source, visualise it and share their insights with Power BI, a platform we're all familiar with. Fabric has so many capabilities beyond this, and our aim is to showcase the full breadth of these through guest presentations.
We will be meeting in Bristol on the 3rd Thursday of each month, sessions will be held in the evening to allow you to unwind from a busy working day with like minded people. We will host a variety of events including talks from expert speakers and hands-on introductions.
Join us and help build a thriving community by sharing experiences between end users & industry experts.

Session 1 - Data Visualisation Best Practices - Mark Endicott
Data Visualisation is easy with Power BI isn’t it?! You just clicky, clicky, draggy, droppy some fields into the Visualisation pane and BOSH, you’ve got yourself a Bar Chart. But, JUST doing this produces bad dashboards, and believe me, I’ve seen more than my fair share of them. Heck, in my early career, I created more than my fair share of them. So how do we prevent the “bad dashboard”? How do we make sure people gain insight from reporting? In this session we’ll look at the fundamental principles that underpin good data visualisation, and understand how they can have an impact. We might even see a bit of Power BI too.About Mark
Mark has just over 10 years of experience in the world of data, choosing to hone his skillset in Data Visualisation, Modelling and all things Power BI, but he can also write a mean SQL query and can talk strategy & culture too. Mark’s experience was built up working in the Recruitment and Facilities Management industries, before spending 4 years in Consultancy, where he focused on teaching best practice across both Modelling and Visualisation disciplines and delivering user centric, self-service Power BI deployments at an Enterprise and SME level. Recently Mark has moved into the world of Financial Services, where he is on-point for setting up a Fabric based reporting platform, to complement a new Data & Analytics function. Mark has been recognised as Microsoft Fabric Community Super User for the last 2 years.Session 2 - Raise the roof with Calc Groups and Parameters - Ant Couzens
