Many Canadian organizations hold a strong grip on traditional styles of leadership, culture, app development, data management and team dynamics. This stance is in stark contrast to the approaches needed to succeed an era of digital transformation. It's almost as if an organizational immune system kicks in to shut down attempts to alter the status quo. In our second session, we’ll delve into how to handle challenges around organizational change.

In the first session, we provided an overview of the 5 Ideals outlined in Gene Kim's the Unicorn Project and began the discussion about how to apply them within an organization. The group shared a number of very helpful experiences, successes and pitfalls. One big takeaway from our first session was that adopting the lessons in the Unicorn Project requires an understanding of how to bring about change in the first place. So, in the next meetup on March 11th we'll draw out concrete actions to use within your organization including:

  • Learning the Kotter eight-step model for organizational change, how to spark a sense of urgency and what it has to do with penguins
  • How to identify different kinds of behaviours within an organization using Westrum's model and what are the best practices to drive change in the different contexts
  • Identifying who to connect with in order to initiate and maintain change

Our goal will be to work through a couple of exercises to help identify opportunities within your own organizations. Plus food and interesting conversation.
