Details

Control the Room is a community of facilitators spanning many different facilitation styles and systems. Facilitation Lab is our weekly event where we create a safe place to explore, adapt, and practice facilitation approaches and methods.

Join us as a participant and learn through connecting with others or signup to lead a session and try out a new method for the first time. During COVID we accelerated our monthly meetups to occur weekly in support of the transition to virtual facilitation and adapting to online. Whatever your learning objectives may be, we are here to support you.

Each week we feature a guest to guide us through an experience, the entire group critiques them, and then as time permits, we run an open mic style facilitation jam.

Agenda:

1:00-1:15 Networking/Warmup
1:15-1:25 Welcome/Why/Intro Host
1:25-2:10 Host Session
2:10-2:30 Rose, Thorn, Bud-Feedback on Host
2:30-3:00 Cleanup/Networking

Here's a little more on this week's guest, Lily Gros! Lily is beyond passionate about creating gatherings that matter. After 5 years of training, facilitating social entrepreneurs, she has been exploring the last two years with a focus on how we can create extra-ordinary gatherings. She has trained in embodiment, yoga, positive psychology practices, that are incorporated into her facilitations to create global experiences, for the heart, body and mind. Today, she designs and leads spaces through seminars, team meetings, retreats (on and offline) for people and teams to (re)connect with themselves and each other.
Her ultimate goal is creating caring, authentic and joyful spaces.

Session Teaser: Reframe what we think Facilitation is and how we might design gatherings beyond techniques and goals

We'll be exploring 3 key questions:

  1. Why do we facilitate? (as a society/as a group of facilitators)
  2. Why do you facilitate? (as an individual)
  3. How can we facilitate gatherings as/for humans?

Please take a moment and offer some time for self-reflection leading up to the session!
