Facilitation Lab w/ Anne Kean

Control the Room is a community of facilitators spanning many different facilitation styles and systems. Facilitation Lab is our weekly event where we create a safe place to explore, adapt, and practice facilitation approaches and methods.

Join us as a participant and learn through connecting with others or signup to lead a session and try out a new method for the first time. During COVID we accelerated our monthly meetups to occur weekly in support of the transition to virtual facilitation and adapting to online. Whatever your learning objectives may be, we are here to support you.

Each week we feature a guest to guide us through an experience, the entire group critiques them, and then as time permits, we run an open mic style facilitation jam.

Session Teaser: Ask yourself, "How do your values manifest through your activities?" -Anne Kean

Here's a little more about this week's guest, Anne Kean! As an independent educational consultant and the current Founder of Searchlight College Consulting, Anne helps people navigate life transitions with mindfulness and an eye on finding fit. For over 20 years, her area of expertise is the adolescent transition to college. Drawing on her background in psychological services, school and career counseling, effective affective communications research, and the college application process, Anne guides students to environments where they can thrive. The root of her work is in connecting students to the why, where, and how underpinning this major life decision.

She’s found having a sense of what you value and what’s driving you helps immensely. These are questions that she dives deep with students to explore. And, they are questions she wishes all human beings had reason to dive deep and explore periodically throughout life. Finding fit is not unique to college selection, it’s applicable to life decisions big and small. We're excited to welcome Anne to the Lab this week!
