OUR MAN IN PHLAN - rumors at the crossing inn

PHLAN - jewel of the Moonsea.
The last few years have not been kind to the city, as it recovers from the war, being over run with dragins, the loss of its ruler in a freak accident, forces of aggressive barbarians at its gates, strange occurances and sightings of monsters in it's streets. The rebuilding has begun and every one is focused on a return to the city's former glory. The surrounding lands have been awash with tales of strange happenings, bright lights seen in the mountains and winters icey grib refuses to release it's hold over the region. What terrors may be mustering while everyone's attention is elsewhere.
One man in particular; Gideon Sage has been troubled by the reports from those outside the city walls.
In an attempt to confirm these rumors and gathering his own intelligence Gideon hired a party of adventurers to investigate and gather what information they could about the happenings.
The largest inn and way piont on the trade routes is the famous "crossing inn", seems like the best place to start.....
