Details

Puppy mills are inhumane commercial dog breeding facilities that over-breed mother dogs and their puppies for profit with little regard for their health and well-being. More and more states and localities are enacting laws to prevent the retail sale of puppy mill puppies, but CT. still allows it. Why should you care?

  • It is well-documented that most puppy-selling pet stores source puppies from Midwest puppy mills, often with terrible animal welfare records.
  • Consumers are often misled into buying a puppy for thousands of dollars with false claims of humane breeders and healthy, well-socialized puppies. Many end up with sick puppies and mounting veterinary bills.

Come and learn what you can do to stop the cruelty from experts at The Humane Society of the United States. You will have a chance to meet some local legislators to have your voice heard, too. All are welcome.
