This is an evening of Social Deduction. If you prefer to sit at a table and play a game with a small group of people, please redirect your attention to the weekly Thursday Evening Board Games event.

Beginner Friendly

Beginner Friendly sessions will always run at least one town that's playing Trouble Brewing.

You can join these sessions at any experience level from "I know nothing about it" through to "I created the game".

Four Rules

There are only four things you need to remember:

1. You may say whatever you want at any time. This is a talking game. You can talk publicly with the group or have private conversations, it is up to you.
2. No peeking. Please keep your character token a secret, and never look into the Grimoire, as it contains all the game characters. If you see something you shouldn’t, it will spoil the fun.
3. Ask the Storyteller any questions you need to. If you get confused, or don’t understand how your character works, or don’t understand how the character that you are pretending to be works, or if something happens at night that you don’t understand, or you just need some strategy advice... whatever it is, please ask. I’m neutral, and my job is to help you understand the rules and have fun playing. Let me know when you have a question, and we can talk in private so that nobody knows what question you asked.
4. Play nice. This is a game about deception and trickery, so please treat others with respect and consideration. Kill with grace, and die with dignity.

What To Expect

• the first game will start promptly at 7pm
• you do not need to know any rules to play
• the Storyteller will introduce the game and a few rules
• ... shortly after the first night will begin
• you will all wake and begin sharing knowledge and suspicions
• after some time to allow discussion the Storyteller will explain what happens at the end of a day
• ... the day will draw to a close
• Play continues with night and day until one team wins

A game usually takes 60-90 minutes, so we aim to play two games in one evening.

More About The Game

Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by 5 to 20 players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions.

During a 'day' phase players socialize openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, culminating in a player's execution if a majority suspects them of being Evil.

Of a 'night' time, players close their eyes and are woken one at a time by the Storyteller to gather information, spread mischief, or kill. Use all your powers of deduction and deception to survive this game of murder and mystery.

The Storyteller uses the game's intricate playing pieces to guide each game, leaving others free to play without a table or board. Players stay in the thick of the action to the very end even if their characters are killed, haunting Ravenswood Bluff as ghosts trying to win from beyond the grave.

The tension and excitement builds for everyone as the bodies of victims pile ever higher...

Parking
Car parking is FREE at the venue but you MUST register your vehicle at the ipad/terminal next to the PREMIER INN reception desk. Select "1 night".
DO NOT register your vehicle at the pub's terminal(s) - these allow a maximum of 3 hours.

Accessibility
The Monkey Puzzle has Blue Badge Parking near the main entrance to the Premier Inn.
Using the nearest pub entrance from the parking, access is step-free and brings you into the pub close to the annex / function area that we meet in.

Affordability
The Monkey Puzzle has menus available online. There's no expectation for attendees to purchase food and drink throughout the evening.
Most people purchase one or two drinks throughout the evening. Some attendees choose to eat at the venue before the event.

Thursday Games Night (9:30pm finish)

We meet up on Thursdays in the Monkey Puzzle Brewers Fayre for a prompt 7pm start. Some of us start arriving from 6pm to have food together and catch up.

Feel free to bring along any games you might want to play, we always like to try out new games. And don't worry if you are only just getting into the hobby as our core group always brings a good selection of games that we are happy to teach.

We like try organise and start our games promptly at 7pm so please try to arrive a little before that if you are not coming earlier for food.

There is plenty of free parking and the pub has kindly set aside an annexe we can use for our gaming which offers lots of table space. There is no attendance fee but we kindly ask participants not to bring your own food or drinks. The pub offers refillable soft drinks as well as a wide selection of good value pub food (https://www.brewersfayre.co.uk/en-gb/locations/hampshire/monkey-puzzle/menus).

While some of our members occasionally take their teenage children along, please bear in mind that we are a group aimed at adults, playing modern and sometimes complex games, and the event is held in a pub. If your children are interested in joining I suggest you check us out first to get an idea of whether the games are appropriate for your child's age. Therefore any attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian.

Intermediate

Intermediate sessions will NOT be playing the Trouble Brewing script.

You should join these sessions if you're comfortable with Trouble Brewing and are looking to explore other scripts and characters from Blood on the Clocktower.

You should expect a mix of Sects & Violets, Bad Moon Rising and some intermediate level custom scripts.
