What we’re about

We are a very friendly and relaxed group meeting to learn and tap (Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT) and to share other effective self-help/healing techniques. We also run events on lucid dreaming and heart-based consciousness/transformation technologies.

We welcome anyone interested in self-healing, particularly for those keen to let go of old experiences and limiting beliefs and to actively engage with creating health, happiness and enhanced awareness.

We meet to practice our skills, learn new ones, or focus on particular topics (such as addictions, anxiety, weight-loss, self-esteem, trauma, relationships, law of attraction, pain, healing the body). During any of the EFT-based meetups there is the opportunity to volunteer to be tapped on whilst, everyone else benefits by tapping on themselves. In Energy Medicine-based ones you will learn how useful muscle/energy-testing is, and simple ways to balance yourself and build energetic/emotional resilience!

Our intention is to share effective tools for self-healing, empowerment and transformation. The emphasis is on EFT and Donna Eden's energy exercises, but other self-help techniques (including Jin Shin Acupressure and FasterEFT) may be demonstrated in some of the meetups.

We are currently based in Surbiton, just SW of London, which is Zone 6 and as little as 15 mins from Waterloo. Meetups will usually be a maximum of 7 minute walk from the station. We also run a sister group in Worcester, cunningly named Self-healing, energy medicine and EFT tapping (Worcester) :) .

Who can join these meetups?

All levels/experience tappers or energy enthusiasts are welcome (unless a specific meetup says otherwise...some events will require some familiarity with these techniques as the group matures)...the simple tapping protocol will be covered at each EFT-based event and no prior knowledge is required for most other events either...this is a great place to learn how to help yourself and others with EFT and other self-healing modalities. How to make the most of it with tapping buddies, and/or group support, and also how to know when it's best to get guidance from a practitioner.

Please come join us an learn/practice simple techniques that will benefit you throughout your life...and have fun too!

A bit about Energy Medicine:

We are now starting to hold some meetups where the focus is on muscle/energy-testing (kinesiology) and particularly the energy techniques of Donna Eden's Energy Medicine (which shares much common ground with my formal qualification in Kinesiology). Moving and balancing energy is a gentle and supportive way to let go of old patterns and establish new and healthy ones. I am one of Donna's earliest UK students having begun learning these simple but powerful exercises with Donna in 1996(!). I co-run a separate EEM study group locally with EEM-qualified-practitioner friend, Kim South, but I wish to make it clear that I am not (yet...one day I'd love to be!) EEM certified myself. (Donna gave me her informal permission to share these exercises many years ago and has kindly encouraged me to announce my groups at her London events of the past 3 years.)

These meetups are in no way 'official' EEM events and I can guide anyone wishing to study this system formally or find a certified practitioner to qualified practitioner friends all over Europe (around 80) or via Donna's website, www.innersource.com.

A bit about other healing topics we may cover, and organiser qualifications:

I plan to also introduce special sessions relating to lucid dreaming and exploration of states of awareness (I am an advanced natural lifelong lucid dreamer currently starting to explore the OBE state) and also aspects of Matrix Energetics, an incredible consciousness technology (I have completed practitioner training in this and am currently waiting to sit the qualifying exam).

As well as my diploma in Applied Kinesiology I have studied with various other schools using kinesiology including Donna Eden and Chris Astil Smith (Epigenetics). I have recently completed the practitioner level 1 and 2 in EFT plus Matrix Reimprinting and over the summer will be completing case studies and formal requirements to become an EFT practitioner. Until I have completed EFT practitioner requirements I will not be holding tapping-focussed events as I am in the process of transfering my tapping skills to a more traditional EFT style.

I've also attended the practitioner course in Paul Wong's 'Opening the Heart' and am a Jin Shin Juitsu acupressure practitioner. I also have done the 4 NFSH levels plus Reiki 1 and 2, and hundreds of days of assorted healing and related courses!

A bit about EFT

(to be added shortly!)

As I previously trained and shared information about Faster EFT I still sometimes demonstrate how useful (see paragraph below) the main tapping technique of this modality is for self-help. However I have increasing concerns about the professional use of this by a few: including some of the provocative aspects of FasterEFT notably something called PPP (pick, poke and provoke) and a dual-practitioner development known as 'Crossfire'. In my opinion some practitioners are going beyond way their scope of practice, encouraged by an inappropriately gung ho attitude in the community, and, at the time of writing, I have concerns about the organisation's ethics. I have voiced my concerns many times within the FasterEFT community. Due to frustrations and concerns of several other experienced practitioners not being addressed (or even welcome) within that organisation there are growing numbers of public discussions of these issues, and worrying stories are emerging of experiences which have been less than positive, which seem to validate my concerns.  I remain hopeful that what I and others see as necessary new safeguards in training, pracititioner updating, ethics (particularly removing any inaccurate marketing testimonials) and a full consideration of safety issues will eventually be put in place. Until/unless this takes place I am chosing to only recommend this modality as a self-help tool or to be considered only with a very trusted, safety-oriented practitioner, so I have removed 'Faster' from the name of the group. I am able to recommend a handful with whom I have personal experience, and I would recommend that anyone considering starting or continuing training in FasterEFT takes a thorough look at what is being offered, and the public debate on this and makes their own informed choice.

Despite the similar name, Faster EFT (Emotional Focussed Transformations), developed by Robert G. Smith (see www.fastereft.com), is very different to Emotional Freedom Technique. It uses only 4 tapping points plus gently grabbing the wrist, and its effectiveness is boosted by the incorporation of techniques from other modalities (including NLP). It even has its own belief system - notably that you are not broken, you are just recreating things in your mind based upon your past experiences. Since everything in your mind is created by you, YOU then have the power to change what YOU choose to hold there...amazingly even memories of severe trauma can change spontaneously during Faster EFT, eliminating unwanted emotional charges, and freeing us from old habitual responses to previously stressful situations. Deep and lasting shifts in emotional and physical health are possible....but please be aware that these shifts are not always as deep and lasting as some video testimonials might suggest. Many attribute the healing of severe and chronic health issues to FasterEFT....and the majority of these that I am aware of needed multiple sessions and considerable self-work to achieve this.

Future developments:

As the group grows I also plan to set up regular self-healing support group sessions, limited to 8 people, where we will meet to get our basic energies balanced, then, with my guidance, use energy/tapping tools to address current issues of those present, and end with a healing meditation...this is an idea of mine that grew from hearing of 'expert patients' where those dealing with illness in a conventional sense supported others from their own experience...I wish to create a safe and positive space for those using self-help/healing techniques to help with their own journeys to have the benefit of one who, trust me!, has been there, tried everything, and knows many of the challenges and benefits of the complementary healing path :)
