Immerse yourself in the picturesque Upper Meadow Trail (3 miles with 272 ft elevation gain) of the Wilderness Gardens County Preserve in Pala, San Diego County (about an hour northeast of the City of San Diego) as we embark on a 2-hour out-and-back leisurely journey filled with breathtaking views, camaraderie, and outdoor fitness activities. This is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, enjoy the fresh air, and create lasting memories. This was one of the first preserves in San Diego County and is on the County Historic Resources Board's list of historic places. Enjoy beautiful views of the Pauma Valley (and the remains of a grist mill near the ranger station). This large preserve (737 acres) is located in the San Luis Rey River watershed. The wildflowers should be amazing!

CARPOOL: Meet at my house at 3370 Moraga Court, San Diego, CA 92117 at 8:30 AM, departing at 8:45 AM. We should arrive at the trail by 10 AM.

PARKING: Approximately $5 day-use fee per vehicle

BRING: The 10 Hiking Essentials including sunscreen, a hat, water, snack, layers, etc.

BATHROOMS: Portable bathrooms are along the trail (per AllTrails reviews)

Friendly, leashed dogs and children are welcome.
