What we’re about
We are forming a core group of people interested in participating in the planning and design of a Cohousing Community in Northwest Arkansas.
The U.S. Surgeon General concluded in his 2023 Advisory that we are facing an epidemic of loneliness and social isolation.* His recommendation is that we all take steps to increase social connection. Many of us who live in Northwest Arkansas (NWA) do not know our neighbors and are part of this epidemic. We are in the process of forming a new Cohousing community in NWA to do our part in addressing this epidemic. Cohousing is designed to be a close-knit neighborhood and supports meaningful connection - one of the most effective solutions to loneliness and social isolation. Environmental sustainability is an integral aspect of the plan.

See all- Second meeting of the NWA Cohousing groupFayetteville Public Library, Fayetteville, AR
We are moving right along with scheduling our second meeting for NWA Cohousing. The best part is that many of us our getting to know each other as we have been working together to plan this second meeting. At this meeting we will pin down what we would value most in a cohousing community, identify who is best to find a great piece of land that will work for multifamily zoning and what further outreach each member can do to increase the size of this cohousing community. Just because you missed the first meeting, it is not too late to join this group. We will continue to respect each member’s time and wrap up by 4 PM. I have included a link for you to find our meeting location on the Fayetteville Library floor plan.
It's on the 4th floor, in the Leverenz Room (411). Here's a map of the library for reference:
