Design Talks w/ MongoDB:
Dealing with Imposter Syndrome as a Designer

Event Details
A decade ago, design was seen as an after-thought. Today, designers hold the coveted seat at the table and now have a stronger voice on what products get shipped to the customer. More and more, designers find themselves into new and unfamiliar areas. Let’s get together to talk about some of the challenges we’re facing as we navigate this new space.

Speakers

Michelle Chiu
Product Designer, MongoDB
Cloud Core Teams
www.michelle-chiu.com

Michelle is a product designer at MongoDB on the Core Identity and Access Management and Billing teams. She's interned as a designer at BuzzFeed, Wish, and frog design and was formerly a software engineering intern at Microsoft, Apple, and DoorDash. Outside of work, she can be found checking out the best art museums in the city with a matcha latte in hand.

Ed Moss
Product Designer, AngelList
www.mossified.com

Ed is a growth designer at AngelList, helping job-seekers find their next dream startup gig. Prior to that, he spent most of his career at early and mid-stage startups, working on everything from content marketing, to analytics to two-sided marketplaces. Find him walking his pup around Brooklyn or traveling across continents exploring new food and cultures.

Shalin Pei
Product Design Manager, Facebook
www.shalinpei.com

Shalin is proudly “the scrappy kind” of designer, who built her career from googling Photoshop tutorials, building Geocities/Wordpress sites, and working with great mentors along the way. Following stints at a startup, an agency, and Google, she’s now landed at Facebook where she manages the Location Platform design team and builds growth and inclusivity programs for the Women of Facebook Design community.
