Houston Critical Mass Ride

This is a fun group ride. Starts and ends downtown at Market Square. Only 20 miles, plus or minus 5 depending on the route, at a social pace. This one is definitely not a race. Dedicated road bikes are not needed and you might as well leave your tri-machine at home. At times some of the group will peel off and stop at one of the watering holes along the way, but this is not necessarily a good idea.
This is an evening/night ride, so you will need lights, white in front and red in back. A helmet is also required, as it always should be!
There's a parking garage nearby ($5), but it fills up. I have room for one more bike if someone needs a ride.
Warning, this ride is chaotic, noisy, and generally unruly. It will block intersections, people will run stop signs and turn left from the right lanes and just generally be disruptive. Lots of folks will fall down. So, why go? Because all that commotion is part of the point. This is part social ride, part party, and almost entirely a protest about the lack of cycling infrastructure in the fourth largest city in the USA.
Lycra is definitely not needed. It's slow, and there's a lot of beer involved all around the ride. I'll be there, but I'm still ambivalent about it.
