Black Friday Ride -- 35, 62, or 106 miles!
Details
You endured a grueling Thanksgiving Day feast and worked hard to pack away all that turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Why not reward yourself with a nice long century? You deserve it!
Last year's ride was EPIC! Over 200 people and we went the wrong way. We didn't care and we all had fun! Everyone looked out for the other and had a great time on all levels! Lets keep that going. This year's Black Friday 100 starts once again at Shama Cycles. Doors open at 6:15 and we'll have some bagels, donuts, bananas OJ and coffee before the ride. At 7:00 am we'll roll out.
Route:
Working on the routes and will post in the next couple of days. Very similar to last year, except the 100 mile route doesn't double back on its self so its easier to stay on route. And here are the routes:
• 35 miles/56 km:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/17356838
• 62 miles/100 km: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/17356797
• 106 miles/170 km: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/17350675
Flats and mechanicals:
The group usually stops when someone has a flat or mechanical. The exception to this is when we are within 5 miles of the next rest stop. If the flat or mechanical cannot be fixed within a reasonable amount of time, the group will proceed. Ubers are awesome for these moments. Pace: Historically this can be a very fast ride. It stays together with a moderate pace 21-22 mph out to the first rest stop. By then the shortest route will have turned back at their own pace. The rest of the groups usually pick it up by then and usually two groups will form of pace with a faster (race pace) group and the group that still wants to keep it at 22mph or just under.
These usually regroup at the second rest stop as well.
Once again, this is self supported, be responsible for your own flats, nutrition and knowing the route. This is not supported, no sag, and we do not have traffic support on the road at intersections. So please obey all traffic laws! Neither Shama Cycles nor La Porte Cycling are responsible for your actions on the road.
