Ride to the Monument
Details
NOTE: A chance of rain for the event. If it's raining, I'll stay home. I really don't like riding in limited visibility. Cars have a hard enough time noticing us and rain or drizzle make it much worse.
A 30-ish mile route, from Bay Area park to the monument. Not many bail-outs along the way. We will take 2 short breaks, one at the monument or battleship for some pictures, then a slightly longer one on 225 just to pick up water or snacks at the store there.
We'll meet up by the duck pond near the exit. This route does put us into the wind on the return, but Bay Area park has good parking and decent facilities. Be aware that the shoulder on Independence Pkwy is pretty rough. Bring a spare tube or two and some CO2 or a pump.
We have turned this into a 40-mile ride to go around a train, but it was a pretty good ride in any case.
Although we're not a no-drop group per se, we don't let anyone ride alone. Unless you decide to sprint away so we can't catch you, then you're welcome.
