All day workshop at Bread and Puppet Theater Museum, Vermont

All Day Workshop on Exposure and Bracketing for Low Light Situations at the unique Bread and Puppet Museum. The massive contents of the Bread and Puppet Museum are the result of over forty years of creativity and hard work which began in New York City's Lower Eastside in the sixties. Peter Schumann, Silesian-born sculptor and choreographer, founded Bread and Puppet Theater in 1963 and even back then called his first workplace, a loft on Delancey Street, the Bread and Puppet Museum. The current museum resides in a huge old barn in rural Northern Vermont and is a unified yet diverse creation rather than a collection of separate objects. It mirrors an immense, colorful world, informed and shaped by an extraordinary vision and encompasses t big and little, light and dark, celestial and demonic creatures of our existence.

The museum closes for season at the end of fall so this is a great opportunity to visit and take in the awe inspiring magnificence of over thirty years worth of Paper Mache masks, puppets, creratures and artwork which literally fill every surface. On a recent brief visit to check out the museum for this workshop we arrived at 10.30am for a short scout around and found ourselves still photographing in the museum at 5pm, and despite spending over six hours photographing the contentswe still felt that we needed to return. The photo opportunities are plentiful - we easily filled over six hours and only scratched the surface. The barn offers interesting lighting challenges and this workshop will help you master exposure and the art of bracketing in low light to get the best out of your trip. There is tungsten light and plenty of ambient window light which provides moody and eerie photo-ops.

This will be an all day extensive workshop. We will leave at 6.30am and travel to Lincoln NH where we will stop of rcoffee and refreshements. After a short break we will leave for the museum and arrive around 11am.

The museum is open until 6pm and is comfortable with small groups photographing the contents and they have no objection to tripods being used.
You will need to bring a packed lunch and refreshments. After spending the day at the museum we will end at a local country store for some of Vermont's best Pizza and Sandwiches.
We are expected to arrive home at or before midnight.

The cost is $90 per person which includes a $20 donation to the museum (admission is by donation) Transport and the cost of food is not included. You will need to drive and/or car pool. You will also need to bring a digital SLR camera, a rock solid tripod and a remote or cable release.

Because we will be shooting extensively during the day it is also advised that you bring additional camera batteries and storage cards.
