Hacking on with IT #14: AI 1: Machine Learning & AI on AWS Introductions

Happy New Year!

For the first half of this year, the AWS User Group Gibraltar will be exploring the various Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning services available on AWS with a few workshops to get hands on. It may be hard here in Gibraltar to get past the hype of blockchain, DLT and crypto but outside Gibraltar for the wider tech community, it's all about big data, machine learning and AI. Not to say Blockchain didn't have its place at re:invent, it did have a small place and AWS has pushed its offering which we may look at later this year but our focus to start with is on the tech that is driving and influencing our lives in a greater way than blockchain, AI and machine learning.

To start our Artificial Intelligence on AWS series this year we will be taking a high-level look at all the services on AWS that enable the use of machine learning and AI. We will be discussing the various applications and use cases of the services that will include AWS SageMaker for pattern recognition, Comprehend and Rekognition for textual and visual pattern recognition.

We have an exclusive look (yes we have our hands on one!!) at the AWS DeepRacer which was announced at re:invent and uses Reinforcement Learning to automate driving itself around a track. More details can be found here:
