What happens if we understand the neural networks, and what happens if we don't?

Details
We will say that we understand a decision or a result from a neural network if we are able to perceive a reason or meaning behind what is presented. This may be a challenge since neural networks learn in a different way from what we do, lacking for instance our sense of common sense and ethical considerations. We present examples where “AI-lash” (re techlash) may occur as a result of current use, and discuss sensible ways to avoid this.
The lecture will be held by Prof. Nils Christophersen, UiO. He was awarded the University of Oslo Innovation prize for 2016 and is a highly cited scientist as defined by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). His background is in applied mathematics and statistics particularly within digital signal processing. In addition, he have a long term interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in the university sector.
