Oct 6th WSPDC-FEDSPUG session on D3 and SharePoint at Microsoft Chevy Chase, MD

Details

Session Title:
D3 and SharePoint-Bring Your Data to Life

Targeted audience:
Developers, Power Users

Session Description:
In this Meetup, Tony McGovern will introduce you to D3.js and lead a hands-on lab where you build an interactive visualization with D3 on SharePoint. There are many tools that allow you to visualize data in SharePoint. From SSRS to Datazen to Excel Services, your SharePoint data can be presented visually in a number of ways. But what do you do if you’re on SharePoint Online and don’t have access to PowerBI or other O365 services? What do you do when you need to create visualizations that are accessible? What if you’re still on SharePoint 2010? This is where D3.js comes in. D3 allows you to create almost anything with data. This JavaScript library allows you to take your creations and present them on SharePoint 2010, SharePoint 2013, or SharePoint Online. From bar charts and line graphs, to Windows Apps and online games, D3 lets you represent your data on the screen interactively in an infinite number of ways. And by the way, it’s the go-to library at the New York Times when they create powerful, interactive visualizations. As a special bonus, those who attend this Meetup will receive an interactive dashboard built in D3 that works out of the box with SharePoint Task lists!
