Feel Good Sing-A-Long Group (Pop/Rock, All Levels)

This is a brand-new group forming in Winter Springs, Florida!

My name is Alan Cyr and I am a licensed mental health counselor. While this group is not a professional service, my hope is that I can use researched principles to help form a social group around signing that will have positive effects on those who join and attend regularly.

There seem to be fewer and fewer spaces for people to socialize and come together for positive social connection. So, this is my attempt to help change this! I want to have a group that is low-cost and fun while helping build community and togetherness.

My vision for the group is to move towards using a democratic process to select themes and music for each group. I want to keep the music positive and uplifting, featuring popular music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's through today.

Attendees are welcome to sing, dance, and move to the music if desired. People who want to sit and sing are encouraged to sit in the front, while people who want to move around and dance are encouraged to stay in the back of the room.

Attendees are asked to read and agree to follow the following rules before arriving to create a safe and welcoming space for everyone; your attendance will be interpreted to mean that you have read, agreed to, and will follow the rules written below.

• Come as you are, accept others as they are: we welcome adults of all abilities/disabilities, skin tones, ethnic groups, cultures, political affiliations, religions/belief systems, national origins, sexual orientations, and/or gender identities (including transgender, non-binary). Words, behavior, and/or general negativity towards someone because of
• Treat everyone present (humans, animals, plants) and the property (including the office, nearby offices, parking lot) with respect.
  • Stay in the designated group space which has its own restroom.
  • Use designated trash cans and/or recycling bins to discard waste; do not litter. If you make a mess, please clean it up (ask for supplies if needed).
  • Follow all local, county, state, and national laws
    • Do not attend our events under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol, nor bring any of these substances onto the premises.
  • While we strive to have a safe and accessible venue, all participation and visitation of the facilities for our group space is voluntary and at your own risk, including the use of the parking lot.
  • We take no responsibility for damage, theft, injury or any other forms of harm that may occur due to you, your person, or your property through use of the parking lot, entryway, office group space, or bathroom, nor through interactions with other group members or its leader.
    • Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle and lock its doors. Be attentive of your own belongings; keep them at home, or at least on your person.
    • Be especially careful when it is raining or after water irrigation of landscaping as floors may be wet and slippery; we will not put out signage to warn you of this fact.
    • Choosing to communicate with and/or spend time with individuals met through this group is at your own risk and discretion.

Failure to follow any of these rules, depending on the nature and severity, may be grounds for disciplinary action; this may include being asked to leave the property to a permanent ban from the group and all future events. Law enforcement will be call for any crimes committed on premises.
