UPDATE!!! Let's Walk the Heron Loop Trail along the Green River in Kent

Details

OUR WALK ROUTE: From Van Doren’s Landing Park we will walk south to Hogan Park along the Green River Trail. On the way we will pass the Neely Soames homestead and have a look at the heritage garden. We will take a short break at Hogan Park where there are restrooms. We will then walk west down Meeker Street and cross over the Green River before heading north along Frager Road. There is some motor traffic along the first section of Frager Road. We will cross back to Van Doren’s Park via a footbridge.

LEADER: Chris Ensor will be leading our walk along with Val Ensor and other Feet First volunteers.

DEPARTING ON-TIME: Please sign in and be ready to leave at 10 am. We will be unable to wait for latecomers as we need to keep the group together.

MEETING PLACE: Meet at the first shelter to sign in, near the restrooms, close to the parking lot, Van Doren’s Landing Park, 21800 Russell Rd, Kent, WA 98032. Look for our “KENT WALK HERE” sign board at the entrance to the main parking lot. To find us - be sure to Use the Google Maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wC89nGPYDddA2S8t9

FITNESS: You need to be able to walk 5 miles round trip on a flat paved trail at a moving speed of about 2 mph to take part on this walk. Please be sure you are up to walking the entire 5 miles as there are no short-cuts and we need to keep the group together.

ACCESS: All the trails we will take are paved and are flat except for a short wooden ramp up and metal grid for the footbridge crossing the Green River. The whole route is suitable for wheelchair users and for other wheeled devices. Children are welcome to join us, but they will need to be carried by parents if they get tired. Well-behaved dogs on a leash may also join us.

WEATHER: The walk will go ahead come rain or shine. Being August, and the current warm forecast, it could be hot, with little shade on the trails we will take so please bring plenty of water.

RESTROOMS: There are restrooms at both Van Doren Park (starting point) and Hogan Park (turnaround).
