Federal Way: Parks, Gardens, Art, Lightrail & More!

Join Feet First Neighborhood Walking Ambassadors, Chris and Val Ensor and fellow volunteers to visit Federal Way.

Attention: This walk begins at 11:15 am - an hour and 15 mins later than most of our other walks to allow access to the mall restrooms when the building opens at 11 am. This is a new walk.

OUR ROUTE: We will walk a little less than 3.5-mile loop starting from and returning to The Commons. Our route will include a number of parks, including Steel Lake Park; Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center; Heritage Center of Federal Way, Harry Truman School, a Community Garden and the Sound Transit Link Lightrail Station named: Federal Way Downtown.

PARKING: Free parking will be available outside at The Commons where we will meet.

LIGHTRAIL RIDERS: If you elect to ride Lightrail, the Federal Way Downtown Station is about a 10-minute walk to the meeting location.

REGISTRATION: Sign in at meet-up. Meet inside The Commons lobby located on the S. 320th St. side.

DEPART ON-TIME: Please sign in and be ready to leave at 11:15 am

RESTROOMS: There are restrooms inside The Commons mall to the right as you enter. Walk through the food court area and find restrooms on the right side.

ACCESS: Trails and walkways will be paved sidewalks, steps, streets without sidewalks, narrow road shoulders with some uneven surfaces and short hills. On narrow sidewalks or along the shoulder of a road, we will announce it in advance and ask you to walk in single file during parts of our route. Great care and attention will be needed. There are some busy street crossings along the way.

Unfortunately, the route will not be accessible for wheelchair users and for other wheeled devices. Children are welcome to join us, but they will need to be carried by parents if they get tired. Special Note about dogs: Dogs are not allowed in the mall; but well-behaved dogs on a leash may join us during the outdoor portions of the walk.

CLOTHING: As we will be crossing a number of busy streets wearing something bright to be visible to motorists would be safer for everyone.

FITNESS: To take part on this walk you need to be able to walk 3.5 miles round trip on paved sidewalks, steps, streets without sidewalks, narrow road shoulders with some uneven surfaces and short hills.

WEATHER: Prepare for the weather, currently expecting temps of 57-78℉ with early clouds with sun breaks in the early afternoon. Be sure to bring water and a snack.
