Mindful Writing & Drawing

Details

Let's explore different kinds of writing and drawing as a way to practice mindfulness. We will chat for a few minutes at the beginning to check in. Then we'll take a deep breath and scan the body. A prompt will be given and we will write or draw for 10 minutes. We'll take another deep breath & scan after to notice what's different. Time will be given after to share what you notice if you choose. Depending on how much time is needed for sharing, we may have more than one prompt.

To help us stay curious and playful, any of the prompts may be created with our dominant or non dominant hand and with ink or bright colors. Have paper, pens, pencils, & markers ready. Prompt suggestions are welcome!

Examples of writing prompts:

  • Write a letter of encouragement to your body.
  • Write a letter of encouragement to your mind.
  • What do you wish you would remember on your bad days?
  • Describe an experience that ultimately made you stronger.
  • When do you feel most alive and free?

Examples of drawing prompts:

  • Draw a mandala - what shapes make you feel safe and powerful?
  • Draw lots of simple shapes to fill up the page and allow for happy accidents.
  • Continuous line drawing - stay present and go with the flow.
  • Write an affirmation then draw a frame around it.
  • Draw a mind garden - what are you growing and weeding?

Let me know any questions! =)
