BRINGING YOU THE B-E-S-T OF LA!! Discovering the most “Fabulous” venues that will exceed YOUR expectations with DJ entertainment.

“The Most Beautiful Restaurants in L.A. Series” is a culmination of numerous web sites I’ve explored of note worthy restaurant critic choices earning the designation, “Most Beautiful.”

LUCIA IS CURRENTLY LA’S HOTTEST RESERVATION!! NEWLY OPENED THIS YEAR IN MAY! ❤️‍🔥

Upscale Afro-Caribbean restaurant unlike any other!

LUCIA IS G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!
When it comes to first impressions, Lucia crushes. You can’t not gawk. Your eyes fall on giant tulip structures soaring towards the ceiling and pod-shaped booths resembling miniature Hollywood Bowl shells.

The centerpiece of the restaurant is its central bar, with sculptural structures that resemble something between butterflies caught in mid-air and manta rays leaping out of the ocean, stretching toward the ceiling. What came to my mind was the gorgeous Sydney Opera House. On one side, a series of semi-enclosed booths run the length of the wall, with clam-shell-shaped structures that recall the Hollywood Bowl, offering cozier tables. On the other side, a low wall wraps around upholstered banquette seating that could be cordoned off into private dining. Founder Sam Jordan says, “You have those Art Deco notes, old-school supper club”.

Lucia’s inspiration stems from Jordan’s extensive travels through the Caribbean islands. Jordan tapped Jamaica-born Adrian Forte to be Lucia’s executive chef. Forte grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, where his grandmothers owned and operated a restaurant. Prior to joining Lucia, he competed on Top Chef Canada; worked as a private chef for Virgil Abloh, Drake, and Alicia Keys; and authored Afro-Caribbean cookbook Yawd.

🍽️CUISINE
https://www.luciala.com/menu
Lucia’s menu feature dishes from across the Caribbean and African diaspora, filtered through Jordan’s travels, Los Angeles’s dining culture, and Forte’s experience. A Jamaican patty comes stuffed with spiced wagyu beef, tucked between flaky layers of yellow pastry, while fish is swapped for lychee in a vegan ceviche with a light sorrel sauce and rice paper cracker. The fried saltfish and fig croquettes, which are a nod to St. Lucia’s national dish of green figs and saltfish, make for easy sharing, along with fluffy coconut milk bread. There’s also tuna tartare wrapped in giant shiso leaves. A baked slab of Trini Mac Pie pays tribute to the iconic Trinidad and Tobago dish; loaded rice and peas come with crispy garlic, hot sauce, and shallots.

The fried chicken is a show-stopper among the larger dishes, with a handful of pieces of hot, boneless chicken. It’s dredged in coconut flour and then baked in coconut. Another favorite is the jerked steak with toum and spiced jus; an oxtail pepperpot with butter beans, farofa, and pickled Fresno peppers; grilled snapper with creamed callaloo; and a 36-ounce dry-aged tomahawk steak. There’s an option to add a caviar bump to any dish. Lucia consistently nails its vibrant sauces, so prioritize dishes that feature a pool of something colorful on the plate jus.

🍸COCKTAILS
Melina Meza (Level8, Boujis Group, Last Call Cocktails) leads the bar program, drawing inspiration from the cuisine of St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica. The drinks are made with a mix of locally sourced California produce and imported ingredients from the island, including tamarind, soursop, and coconut. The bar menu highlights Caribbean-made rum, alongside Black-owned spirits and wines. The fun drink list also features Moscow mules dusted in masala or a smoky tom collins made with mezcal and Red Stripe. An okra martini is made with vodka, pickled okra, lemongrass, thyme and bay leaf dry vermouth, and escovitch, plus a sidecar, pickled mangos, and vegetables. Margaritas are made with jerk-spiced agave, and the oxtail Old Fashioned with oxtail-washed bourbon, sweet potato, sugar cane, and Creole and Angos tura bitters. A handful of non-alcoholic options are also available.

🎼DJ MUSIC
Lucia has its clubby touches with 90s hip-hop vibes.

SEE & BE SEEN DRESS ATTIRE
This clubby Afro-Caribbean spot on Fairfax has the best-dressed crowd in the city. You’ll find well dressed guests sipping okra martinis at the bar and groups of girlfriends piling into booths shaped like miniature Hollywood Bowl shells. Despite all that—and the DJ spinning 90s hip-hop in the corner—the experience is ultimately about the food.
