Via Ferrata Gemmi Adventure (K4) + hike to Sunnbüel (Kandersteg)

Last minute suggestion based on the forecast for a dry and relatively sunny day in Leukerbad on Sunday (optional overnight stay at the Gemmipass on Saturday night).

This is the last chance to do the Via Ferrata Gemmi before it closes for the winter season (note this is not the Daubenhorn, which is already closed).

This is described as an adventure via ferrata which is a bit different from the traditional via ferrata as it presents several elements of an adventure park.
The adventure via ferrata is rated as a K4, so it is not for beginners or for those who have vertigo as it is extremely exposed.

Hike to Sunnbüel
After the via Ferrata we will continue with a hike from the Gemmi Pass to Sonnenbüel from where we will catch the cable car down to Kandersteg and make our way back to Zurich.

I personally plan to travel to the Gemmi Lodge on Saturday lunchtime and spend the night there enjoying the Sauna and relax before dinner. So I will meet you there on Sunday morning.

If joining on Saturday the latest departure from Zurich HB is at 13:02 in order to catch the last cable car to the Gemmi Lodge.

We will meet inside the Gemmi Lodge Restaurant (at the top of the Gemmi cable car) by 10:10
From there we head to the via ferrata.

After the via ferrata we start our hike towards Sunnbüel.
Last cablecar descent from Sunnbüel is at 17:00.

We can decide if to have our lunch break before starting the hike or during the hike.
There are restaurants at the Gemmi lodge or along the way.

• Ferrata equipment: Helmet, harness and via ferrata set, ie 2 running carabiners (with automatic locking) and with connecting ropes and with a braking system. Can also be rented at the cable car station

• layered warm clothes, hat and gloves (it’s going to be cold!)
• rain protection
• good hiking boots
• small clothes change, bathing gear for the wellness & toiletries if staying overnight
