WFMU Calypso Invasion at Union Pool

For 40+ years WFMU DJ Irwin Chusid (http://wfmu.org/playlists/IC) has tried—and failed—to launch a calypso revival.
His campaign returns to Union Pool (http://www.union-pool.com/) in Brooklyn on Sunday, April 3rd, when he spins a two-hour calypso set from 4-6 pm.
Come celebrate four decades of failure with platters by Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener, Duke of Iron, Mighty Zebra, Wilmoth Houdini, Two Gun Smokey, Lord Melody, and others. Union Pool stocks the following rum: Sailor Jerry, Malibu, Gosling’s, Bacardi, and Flor de Caña. (Irwin highly recommends 1, 3, and 5.)
Irwin has invited The Mighty Sparrow (who lives in Queens) to attend. If Sparrow makes it, no rum for Birdie. Buy him a Bud, his drink of choice.
The party continues when WFMU’s Dave the Spazz (http://wfmu.org/playlists/MS) commandeers the turntables at 6 pm.
