Intel's RealSense (https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/realsense-overview.html) is a close-range camera system & software SDK that enables face tracking, gesture recognition, voice recognition and a ton of other features that can be used for game input & feedback on a PC or laptop.
The team at Fairytale Distillery (http://www.fairytale-distillery.com/) has been invited by Intel to give the system a try and so they ran a 24-hour game jam using Unity 5 and the SDK to see what's possible. The game created during the jam is called "Space Mechanics" - it's a whimsical, two-player "space station repair simulator" inspired by Surgeon Simulator but way less polished. =D
Sebi (Tech Director @ Fairydist) will talk about the development process, explain the abilities (and the pitfalls) of the RealSense SDK and it's accompanying Unity toolkit. We will look at code examplesfrom the jam, some Unity editor tools and we'll have 1 or 2 RealSense devices around to allow for some experimentation.
Since this meetup is supported by Intel, we'll be able to have free food at the event - sign up early so we can order enough food for everybody.
