What we’re about
FFF>50 has an amazing new home on the web. When you join us there, you'll be able to search for members who live near you and/or share your interests, create an interest-based club, post discussions in an organized and searchable feed, upload images, and of course create gatherings large and small. It's a real friendship-making machine!
Here's your invitation to join us at our new home: bit.ly/4ivrVVd
FFF>50 is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization where women >50 come to connect, make friends, share their passions and expertise, and revitalize in their second act.

See all- Come out and WANCE! Dancing while walking on the National MallSmithsonian, Washington, DC
Let's WANCE again!! No, that’s not a typo, it’s simply a combination of walking and freestyle dancing.
"It's so liberating!" said one of the participants last time.
WANCE began in the Midwest during the pandemic; here’s the original WANCE website by Gabrielle Lulloff.
Wancing brings us together, relieves stress, encourages us to move our bodies any way we want, and builds our courage and resilience to be who we truly are, out in public!
This is what Gabrielle says Wancing is all about (from the website):
WHAT IS WANCING?
- Dancing as you walk
- The art of letting loose
- Spreading good vibrations & joy
- Putting that pep in your step
- Exercising your mind, body and spirit
- Taking care of yourself
- A different way of meditating
- Not caring what other people think
- Creating an expression of movement
- A way of meeting other advocates of funHere’s an article about it to learn even more!
Our details:
- We’ll meet just before 11 am on Sunday, May 18 at the large map just outside the Smithsonian Metro Station on the National Mall.
- Please include your cell number in your RSVP so we can be sure to find each other. We'll message you a few days before the event to confirm and be sure we're in contact.
- We’ll carry two linked Bluetooth speakers to play music that gets us moving.
- Requests for the playlist VERY welcome, nothing with “explicit” warnings though. Send song ideas to patricia@fierceafter45.com or post them below, thank you!
- No dance experience required, no choreographed steps (although you are welcome to follow what we do). Just move and express yourself with movement to music. No worries if you have mobility challenges, we will adjust to everyone's speed as needed!
- Creative clothing, funny hats, protest clothing, etc. are very welcome.
- We’ll WANCE up and down the paths and green spaces of the National Mall. We'll WANCE for about an hour, but we will make loops so people can break off and return to Metro as needed.
- A museum visit afterward is a great idea!!
- You may bring guests (of any age/gender), let me know!
- Ask any questions below -- we hope you'll join us!
- Slow, Mindful Walk in Nature at Huntley Meadows Park, about 2 or 2.5 milesHuntley Meadows Park & Visitor Center, Alexandria, VA
Please join us for an intentionally slow, mindful walk in nature in beautiful Huntley Meadows Park, where we tune in to all of our senses and the present moment!
It's a wonderful, stress-reducing break from our busy lives. It's also a great option if you like to walk in nature with a group but have mobility challenges or just prefer to walk slowly! 🤗
The plan:
We'll meet in the parking lot at the start of the trail near the nature center at 2:30 pm. We'll introduce ourselves there, but then as we start the mindful walk we won't talk, just absorbing the sights, sounds, smells and sensations (we might even bring native herbs or flowers to taste if we can find some!).
We'll continue about a mile to the lake boardwalk (approximately 40 minutes) and then we will talk on the way back, still walking slowly, and share our experiences, plus any other conversation we choose.
If you get restless, of course you are welcome to break off at any time and rejoin us as needed!
We're choosing a Wednesday afternoon so hopefully the park will be quiet and serene, so we can hear the rustling leaves, birdsong and maybe even frogs. There is no cost to enter the park. Note that no dogs are allowed on the boardwalk trail.
If it's sprinkling we will still do the walk and enjoy the sensation of rain, dress accordingly! But if it's stormy or there's heavy rain, we will pivot to a mall walk, stay tuned! Please include your cell number in your RSVP for any late updates.
Important note: Finding Female Friends >50 is transitioning to the easy-to-use Mighty Networks, please join us there for lots of great in-person and virtual events in a secure space! Here's the join link, hope to see you!
Hope to see you!
