Join our member and experienced birdwatcher Jennifer G to see what we can discover on a leisurely walk in Rock Creek Park!
Jennifer writes: "Early September is prime fall migration time! So we'll be on the lookout for residents, seasonal and migrating birds, including hawks, woodpeckers, thrushes, vireos, flycatchers, warblers and more."
All experience levels welcome, including none :)
Suggest you bring:
- Binoculars; we will have several loaner binoculars available, but not enough for the whole group
- Water and snacks
- Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes
- Sun/insect protection.
Note regarding accessibility: we will be walking at a very slow pace, on both paved walkways and natural surface (potentially uneven) trails.
Note regarding restrooms: The actual Nature Center is closed as of the time of this posting, and it may still be closed by the time we meet for our bird walk. So the restrooms in the facility may or may not be available; portable units may be available for use, though there is no guarantee (lookouts available for use of the woods of course!).
There is parking on site; we will gather at the benches in front of the nature center, with a FFF>50 sign. Limited to 10 people for the best experience. We already have 4 from our group on Mighty Networks, so the limit here is 6. Hope you can join!
